Council on abuse cases

The Church of Norway has a council on abuse cases who examine and discuss questions on sexual abuse in the Church of Norway. In addition, every Bishop has an ethical council with a consultative role.

The Council on Abuse Cases is a national council in the Church of Norway. It is a contact and coordination point mandated to give advice on abuse prevention and response. The council raises awareness of the issue in the church, and promotes professional and ethically sound practices. It takes an overall view and evaluates, coordinates and develops the church’s efforts to prevent and respond to abuse. The council works to change and improve common strategies and systems, and to ensure equal treatment across the church.
