What is the relationship between vulnerability and security? Could a reflection on this relationship lead us to act and think differently with regard to security policy? The Commission on International Affairs in Church of Norway Council on Ecumenical and International Relations in this study presents some theological and ethical reflections concerning these questions. The aim of the study is: To outline a basic understanding of the relationship between vulnerability and security in a theological and ethical perspective To present views on certain challenges in security policy nationally and internationally To highlight possible contributions from the churches in peaceful conflict resolution and in overcoming violence To serve as a background document for the churches´ involvement in the Decade to Overcome Violence 2001-2010. The World Council of Churches launched the Decade to Overcome Violence in February 2001. Churches and Christian organisations in Norway are part of this Decade. Issued by Commission on International Affairs in Church of Norway Council on Ecumenical and International Relations February 2002 (original version in Norwegian issued December 2000) with the generous assistance from Norwegian Church Aid. The Document is downloadable as a pdf-document
